Who they are
Sonovision has produced technical documentation for aeronautics since 1948, starting in military aviation. Since 2017 it has been part of the Ortec Group, and it now spans documentation and logistics engineering across France, Spain, Canada and India.
Its speciality is the written record that has to accompany an aircraft: technical writing and illustration, translation, integrated logistics support and ground support equipment documentation. Ortec publishes its role as documentation partner to Airbus Helicopters, including the Super Puma range and the H160 programme.
The challenges
Aerospace technical publications is an unglamorous discipline that fails loudly when it goes wrong.
Documentation must match configuration — and configuration never stops moving. A manual describing an aircraft that no longer exists in that form is worse than no manual, because someone will trust it.
The record outlives the people. Rotorcraft stay in service for decades. Documentation has to remain correct and retrievable long after everyone who wrote it has moved on.
Volume with no tolerance for drift. Thousands of documents, several languages, multiple programmes — and a single inconsistency is an audit finding.
Where we fit
Sonovision was our tier-1 partner on rotorcraft mandates before Capgemini — the route through which our work in the sector began, and the relationship that established our track record in a certified aerospace environment.
We extended capacity on technical-publications workflows and the data engineering beneath them, working to Sonovision’s established quality and configuration-management practice rather than importing our own.
