Aerospace & defence — manufacturing · OEM liaison · named under NDA

Who they are

An Australian manufacturer supplying the aerospace and defence sector, working with a European OEM on production programmes.

We are not able to name them. The engagement is covered by a confidentiality agreement that also extends to their customers, so both parties stay unnamed here. What follows is the shape of the work, which is ours to describe.

The problem

Nine hours separate them from the OEM. That gap does not need a crisis to cost money.

Even small matters are hard to close at that distance. A question that would take five minutes face to face becomes a message, an overnight wait, a partial answer, and another overnight wait. Nothing has gone wrong — the work simply takes four days instead of an afternoon. Across a live supplier relationship, the delay rather than the difficulty is the expense.

Most of it is not dramatic. It is administrative and contractual: orders and amendments, documentation packages, terms and their interpretation, approvals waiting on a signature, and the procedural friction that accumulates whenever a supplier cannot walk down a corridor to ask.

Where we fit

We are their presence at the OEM — on site, inside its working day, handling the administrative and contractual business of the relationship.

That means closing in a morning what would otherwise take most of a week and, more usefully, anticipating: we have worked inside this OEM’s programmes for years, so we know which requests need evidence attached, whose signature is actually required, and where a document will come back.

It only works because both sides trust us. A supplier’s representative inside the customer’s building has to be useful to the customer too — read as a pure advocate, you stop being invited to the conversations where things are decided. That is not a capability anyone staffs on demand.
